a pretty great and overlooked shmup!
despite obviously copying salamander's whole "destroy a creature from the inside out" concept, abadox justifies itself with far cooler and more body horror-driven aesthetics
the levels alternate between scrolling horizontally or vertically, and they're tough as nails. luckily you've got unlimited continues so the stages become exercises in planning and routing rather than ever falling victim to frustrating gradius syndrome
only big downside here is the boss fights. they're pathetically easy as long as you can find a spot where their bullets never reach
granted, at the same time it's kind of a welcome reprieve after you've been getting your shit kicked in for a half an hour by the stage directly beforehand
