if this was the blueprint for nu-metal,
you'd be saying better things about nu-metal
this became a favorite on first listen and it's frequently been in my rotation since. i adore everything about it sonically. the guitar tone is fuckin' ace, the vocals are just the right mix of spoken/whispered and growled/screamed... and there's a certain unhingedness to the frontman himself that gives strong serial killer energy (i mean that in a positive way)
as far as the genre goes, there's a good amount of track variety. i'd really only consider a few of the songs to fall under textbook 'nu-metal' definitions (most notably "celeb hunter" and "fullmetal gunslinger"). tracks like "ichigo-philia" come across more as alt-metal than anything else. but iunno, people call system of a down nu-metal too so whatever
maybe it's not a coincidence that most of the best nu-metal albums are frequently debated as to whether or not they're even nu-metal in the first place
