alisia dragoon is a sidescroller with autoattacking. the extent of aiming your weapon is facing the same direction as an enemy. whether they're above or below, you'll hit them
that may sound lame at first, but the tradeoff is that enemies will swarm you from every which way constantly. it can even be a little cheap at times, but it's generally not too frustrating besides having limited continues
your gun itself is also pretty worthless if you never let go of the attack button since it builds up charge while inactive - forcing you to play defensively just as much as offensively
by the way - the soundtrack kicks ass and the official artwork's done by the dude who created outlaw star
